But still this small thing in me says "dance".
My husband who I believe would be a wonderful dancer chooses not to, he often says "fat white boy's don't dance". Honestly though, I have to wonder if secretly there is a skill within him that he is not willing to share with the free world, and have to believe that maybe just maybe the gift that our children have when it comes to engaging in the dance comes from him.
I love to watch my children dance. From the time they were little they danced, they sang...natural born performers. If they saw a dance they immediately caught on or at the very least looked as if they did. Where did this come from...had to come from their father...or from the Father.
You see I believe we are born to Praise. The arts are all part of that. God gifts each and everyone of us with a uniqueness, something special. I believe that is why babies are so drawn to music and movement, and from the time we are born we respond to the sound of a song and the gentle movements to sooth us when we are crying. Even as we enter into the golden years of life, those folks who are afflicted by dementia disorders respond to music and movement as well.
Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name with dancing...
Every time something happened in Israel that was from God and commanded a celebration they danced...Mariam danced...David Danced...Job even speaks of children dancing.
So back to this thing of believing we are born to dance...Recently at a Christmas program at church I found myself paying more attention to the crowd than what was actually happening on the platform. I was drawn to the activity of the children in the pew across the isle...Every time someone sang, they danced. Now our grandson was there as well, and the more they danced, the more he wanted to dance..It was so natural, so part of what they wanted to do...They didn't care about who was watching or what other people would think...what ever it was, they were stirred into celebration mode and desired to dance.
Why can't we do that...why can't we just dance...or sing, or lift our hands or submit to the moment as God desires that we do...Pride I guess...what would folks think...Look at that Zealot...Ha! Ha!
Seriously though, I believe that we as believers are entering into a new season...And as the time grows closer to Christ's return He is going to reveal more to us about what it is He desires that we see, or even do.
So for me it must be something as simple as dancing. Or maybe just maybe it is freeing myself up and moving out of my comfort zone into the uncomfortable so that I can be free and confident in who He has created me to be...
So am I going to dance...I don't know...I guess if the small voice keeps telling me to, yes...
How about you? Are you willing to Praise Him with the Dance?
See ya next time...
